In the weeks since we announced that we would not move forward with the CLOC Institute in May, the landscape has continued to shift dramatically. While we recognize that much of our community is focused on these issues at the moment, we have heard from many of you over the past weeks who are eager for an update on our plans in rescheduling or providing an alternate version of the 2020 Vegas Institute. In light of the current circumstances, it will be impossible to hold a rescheduled CLOC 2020 Vegas Institute later this year. Instead, we plan to deliver as much value as possible via a webinar format starting in May 2020. In addition, we are also developing new content, tools and how-to guides to enable our community to grow their legal ops practice.

We are working with select in-house legal operations professionals to develop a series of webinars. These webinars will align to the CLOC Core 12 functions and will be available to all members and law firm participants in our communities. We will announce session dates, times and descriptions over the next few weeks.

Due to the fast-moving and ever-evolving role of legal operations, CLOC has updated the original CLOC Core Competencies to reflect the changes and priorities that today’s legal operations practitioners are experiencing. We are in the process of developing new content, mapped to the CLOC Core 12 functions, to enable legal operations professionals to grow their legal organizations into a more modern practice. 

The CLOC Core 12 functional model has been the foundation and growth framework for many legal ops professionals and corporate legal departments in our industry. Whether you are just getting started in setting up a legal operations function, or are building on your existing capabilities, the information and resources provided in the Core 12 have helped grow your organization. Over the next few weeks, we will be communicating additional information about the changes to the CLOC Core 12 and the exciting content that is in development.

We are currently living through a very fluid and challenging time; however, we are committed to working hard to deliver as much value as possible to our members, sponsors and partners and we appreciate your patience as we make this pivot to a more virtual world.  We’ve already begun planning for the CLOC 2021 Vegas Institute, which will take place May 18 – 20, 2021, at Bellagio Las Vegas, and look forward to seeing you there.
